ABOUT ONLINE SAFETY
Online safety is about protecting users, especially children, from illegal content online. Service providers must take effective measures to prevent and swiftly remove illegal user generated content (UGC). This includes effective own-initiative content moderation as well as user-friendly and easy-to-find reporting and appeals systems.
Online safety is regulated by the Digital Services Act (DSA) in the EU, the Online Safety Act (OSA) in the UK, the Online Safety Act in Australia, and similar laws in other countries.
WARGAMING AND ONLINE SAFETY
Online safety is a top priority for Wargaming. We are constantly working to improve our content moderation policies and tools—not only because we are committed to compliance with online safety laws, but also because we believe in creating safe and comfortable online environment for our players.
This document provides an overview of our online safety policies and practices. Also, from this page you can:
Complain about illegal or inappropriate content
Appeal against Wargaming’s decision
Read Wargaming’s DSA transparency report
Send us a notice as a Trusted Flagger under the DSA
Submit an order to provide information or to act against illegal content if you an EU law enforcement officer.
OUR CONTENT MODERATION POLICIES
When users sign up for our products, they agree to abide by the End User License Agreement (“EULA”). The EULA contains a Code of Conduct in its section 12 setting out what players can and cannot do while using our products. The Code of Conduct contains fundamental, product-neutral rules that all players must follow while using any of our games. Among other things, it expressly prohibits transmitting any illegal or inappropriate content.
In addition, we sometimes need to provide explanations and examples of how the Code of Conduct applies to specific games or situations. Such additional policies are listed in section 12.3 of the Code of Conduct. At the time this document is drafted, they include “Games Rules” for individual games, “Clan Rules” for clans in our games, “Fair Play Policy”, and “Player Content Policy.”
We do not tolerate and remove any content that is illegal or contrary to our Code of Conduct. Players who post such content are suspended or blocked from using our services. We pay particular attention to the content considered priority illegal content under online safety laws, i.e. content pertaining to:
Terrorism
Child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA), including grooming, Image-based Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), and CSAM URLs
Hate
Harassment, stalking, threats and abuse offences
Controlling or coercive behaviour
Intimate image abuse
Extreme pornography
Sexual exploitation of adults
Human trafficking
Unlawful immigration
Fraud and financial offences
Proceeds of crime
Drugs and psychoactive substances
Firearms, knives and other weapons
Encouraging or assisting suicide
Foreign interference
Animal cruelty
HOW WE MODERATE CONTENT
Our games include the following user generated content: сhat messages, nicknames, clan attributes (clan names, tags, logos, descriptions), training room descriptions. This content serves the ancillary purpose of aiding gameplay and is limited to what is required for that purpose, both in scope and visibility. For example, most of the chat messages are automatically deleted and are visible in the games only for a short period of time.
We use a combination of manual and automated moderation tools. Automated tools are required where manual moderation is challenging (e.g. due to the big volume or short availability of the content in the game).
We use the following automated moderation tools:
Profanity filter that automatically removes profanity in chats in real time, blocking it from appearing in the game. The tool can be switched on and off by the user.
Automatic detection of profanity in chats. The user who posted profanity is restricted from using the service (suspension or termination of the ability to use chats).
Automatic detection of spam in chats. The user who posted spam is restricted from using the service (termination of the ability to use chats).
Manual moderation is carried out by more than 60 specialists with knowledge of various languages who work with players’ complaints, notices, and appeals every day.
HOW YOU CAN REPORT ILLEGAL CONTENT
You can report illegal content through our Player Support here (first choose the game, then press “CONTACT SUPPORT,” and go to “Reports & Appeals”). Please note that you will have to log in to submit a report. If you do not have a Wargaming account (e.g. if you are a Trusted Flagger under the DSA) or if you would like to file an anonymous report, you can use this form.
For law enforcement authorities, we provide a dedicated DSA Point of Contact, where orders to provide information and orders to act against illegal content can be submitted.
We send automatic receipt confirmations and review all messages and orders received through these channels daily to ensure swift and adequate response.
HOW YOU CAN APPEAL AGAINST WARGAMING’S DECISION
If you disagree with our decision, you can appeal by creating a ticket in the “Reports & Appeals” section of the Player Support website (if you reached out to us via Player Support) or by replying to the e-mail you received from us (if you used the DSA Point of Contact).
